Much like bad weather tore through the north-west the prior day, Manchester City swept United away at the their home ground. It was a statement 3-0 triumph for their manager's side owing to goals from Knaak, Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a performance that truly announced their championship potential as they strengthened their place at the top of the table.

Consecutive Losses for Manchester United

This result represented back-to-back league setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since spring 2024, leaving them a sizable gap off the table toppers with their championship aspirations hanging by a thread.

The Red Devils' capability to manage league and continental football with a thin squad has been a widely debated issue since they qualified for the Champions League. Looking at the schedule, it always appeared this was the period that would seriously challenge this fortitude.
